Briggs & Stratton Genuine Spark Plugs

Why choose a genuine OEM spark plug?

Briggs & Stratton genuine parts are specially designed to exact Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards. Not only are Briggs & Stratton genuine parts assured to fit, but using them ensures that the Briggs & Stratton engine they are installed on complies with applicable (EPA) emission regulations and helps maintain valuable warranty coverage.

  • Changing your spark plug will improve starting making it easier and more consistent. It will also improve fuel economy.
  • Use a spark plug gauge to measure the gap between the two electrodes at the tip of your spark plug and check specs for your model
  • Before doing any small engine repair or maintenance, be sure to check your manual for recommendations on specific parts numbers and safety precautions.

How to change a spark plug on a Lawnmower

Removing a Spark Plug

Twist and pull the spark plug wire cap to remove. Once removed use a spark plug wrench and socket and turn counter-clockwise to unscrew the spark plug and remove it from the engine.

Inspect

Inspect the area around the spark plug to ensure there is no debris or carbon build up and then using a spark plug gauge, measure the gap to make ensure proper spacing (check specifications for your model).

Replacing the Spark Plug

Once you’ve determined you have the spark plug for your machine, insert it into the spark plug chamber and gently tighten with a spark plug wrench or socket. Then securely attach the cap and wire to the new spark plug.

General Lawnmower and Small Engine Maintenance

Are you changing your oil, replacing your air filter and adding fuel stabilizer to your outdoor power equipment as frequently as you should be? General engine maintenance will help your engine last longer and run better. Using genuine parts on your Briggs & Stratton engine will make sure it fits right and runs the way it’s supposed to.
